Novice Men Dominate HORR 2012

Tuesday, 1st May 2012

Author: Matt Dabell

The race started well for the novice men, with an overtake almost as soon as they crossed the start line. Unfortunately for most of the crews around them the race had not started well, with carnage both in front of and behind the boat, including major crashes and boat stopping crabs. Thanks to some expert steering from Natalie not only were they able to avoid all trouble, but they were able to remain powerful in the fastest stream. Several overtakes later and the novices were set for a good time.

The highlight of the race was overtaking the UWE novices from several places behind. This was the same UWE boat that had beaten our novices at BUCS! The novices crossed the finish line in a very respectable 224th place (6 places ahead of Warwick’s 2nd VIII). A great Regatta season awaits the squad.
